UK: Barley and wheat usage by brewers, maltsters, distillers increases in Q4 2016

In Q4 2016, the UK brewers, maltsters and distillers used 464 thousand tonnes of barley, up 2.5%, and 198 thousand tonnes of wheat, up 31%, against the same period in 2015, Defra reported.

July-December barley usage totalled 911 thousand tonnes versus 901 thousand in July-December 2015, whereas wheat usage was 375 thousand versus 323 thousand in the same period the year before.
